The prevailing biblical guideline regarding giving, however, is that Christ’s followers support the church. The haters of our Lord don’t have the moral weight to offer anything to the biblical God through His church.
The real inspiration is our life with God in the hereafter. It is as sure and true as Christ Himself, who promised it. “He who believes in the Son has eternal life.” (John 3:36a)
Forgiveness and Salvation – Everyone who decides for Christ has his sycamore tree of humility. There was an old rich man who asked his born-again servant how to live in heaven forever. Sensing the bourgeois pride of his master, the servant answered, “Sir, since you have neglected the Lord all through your life, you need to kneel amidst your herd of swine for two days.” “No,” retorted the old man, “I can’t do that!” After a year or so, the old man became so ill that he told his servant he was ready to start kneeling. The servant replied, “No need, Sir. What God wants of you is your willingness to push pride away so you can wholeheartedly come in faith unto the Lord.”
The devil’s tranquilizing man’s guilt is just a necessary part of Satan’s primary agenda to deceive us all. Taught our Lord Jesus Christ that heaven declares adultery even on a minor lustful look. Observed Matthew 5:27-28: “But I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.” The devil disagrees. “It is just a ‘venial sin,’” was his usual soothing pill.
I am resigning—am a Christian . . . I find the entire system of our company shamefully corrupt. Bribery, immorality—I don’t want to be identified as one of its employees.” It was the statement given by Moab, a highly respected officer of a certain company, before he left his job. Few months after his resignation he found himself penniless; his family having no more food in the fridge and his children quitting school. So huge was Moab’s financial downfall in the guise of his Christian principles. But, if you were in Moab’s place, for instance, would you dare such an enormous decision to defend your Christian beliefs? Or will your employment with such a company make you less Christian?
Death penalty is one issue that has severely divided the brilliant opinions of our day. The moralists and self-righteous ones, including the so-called religious and intellectuals, have joined forces in ringing so loudly the bell of protest that the unlearned and poor-minded become easy captives of their eloquence. “End to the death penalty,” they cried vehemently, “for humanitarian reasons; for we are pro-life!” What a slogan is it? Indeed, the deaf in spirit will want to hear it. A loud and clear sympathy for life, “anti-death penalty” is a cause worthy of everyone’s support!
