Funny or strange thoughts about love continue to come and go like unwanted visitors to many healthy relationships. Have you heard about the so-called “5 Bs” that a man must require from a woman before deciding to marry her? I was a high school student when I first heard some strange thoughts about love. They said that the ideal woman has “5 Bs,” the acronym for 1) beauty, 2) brain, 3) background, 4) behavior, and 5) bank account.

Strange Thoughts About Love or Misunderstandings Because of Greed
Should every man insist on following this piece of advice (or piece of nonsense?), I don’t think there will be a wedding in one year, more so if we equate “good background” to virginity and a valued bank account to being rich.
Well, high school guys are always full of strange thoughts on such a subject as love!
However, after college, I got a job as a college instructor, and there I heard another amusing love thought, this time from my middle-aged coworkers rather than high school students. Someone in our faculty room remarked, “Well, we old men love young women… as the saying goes, ‘old cows eat young grass.’” (Laughter) The more pessimistic one added, “Yea, it’s true that young vines climb an old coconut tree.”
Of course, he was suggesting a relationship where a young girl marries an old man for the sake of money!
Another absurd thought about love, which I heard on TV from a quite broke celebrity whose mother had cancer, was a statement broadcasted nationwide in a raw and unadorned manner. “Yes, it’s difficult nowadays if you don’t have a D.O.M.” (She meant “dirty old man,” of course.)

I was constructing my house then, and one of my carpenters asked my opinion about this one idea shared with him by his friends:
“Sir, the young men in our village kept saying that they will marry the ugliest girl in our village as long as she taught in a public school.”
(Note that it happened when news floated that the salary of public-school teachers in the Philippines would be raised above the minimum for the first time.)
Well, the bottom line of all these so-called corrupt thoughts about love is money. It is indeed a serious problem if every facet of our society’s foundation will be commercialized.
“Love is when the other person’s happiness is more important than your own.” (H. Jackson Brown, Jr.) “It is not self-seeking,” wrote the Apostle Paul. (cf. 1 Cor. 13:5 NIV)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Cor. 13:4-7 NIV)
1 Corinthians 11:12:
For as the woman originates from the man, so also the man has his birth through the woman; and all things originate from God.
And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.
A gracious woman attains honor, And ruthless men attain riches.
An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels.
She rises also while it is still night And gives food to her household And portions to her maidens.
