From the biblical perspective, the Filipino people, just like the Syrians, the Americans, or the Chinese, are experiencing today a sense of a political climate that is primarily influenced by what the Bible calls as the “powers. . .of this darkness.” (Eph. 6:12 NASB) But how do we know that the forces of this darkness are now in perfect control of the Filipino nation? Easy. By the united voice of the people for what is completely anti-God and anti-Bible. When the powers of evil hovered upon the Jews, the cried out together at the top of their voice that Christ had to be crucified, and Barabbas, the robber and murderer, released to them.

That’s why most people don’t like to attend a Bible Study. “Don’t teach us religion, for we too believe in God; we have our own religion; we don’t need your sermon!” Yes, that’s how most of us react when the subject is all about the Bible and Christ. The problem with most rich people starts when money becomes their god—their source of power and protection. Most of them live life in turmoil and confusion. They are not truly happy and peaceful in life. God said that He will add no sorrows to your wealth only if you believe it as God’s blessing to you. “It is the blessing of the LORD that makes rich, And He adds no sorrow to it,” says Proverbs. Without faith that God owns everything, then we could never be happy in this life.

ANXIETY. In paradise, the devil told Eve to cast all her cares upon herself. He said, “you will be like God.” Since then man thinks he has the built-in capacity to handle the challenges of life. He is like God in his estimate of himself. “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks.” (Rom. 1:21)

In their crusade to face life outside of God’s care, Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves for their clothing. “We can do it,” they told themselves. Yes, they learned their first lessons in dressmaking in the backwoods of paradise while hiding away from their Creator.
