Of Life Journey
Man’s life in this world is like a journey. His first step thus is as important as his destination. The problem is that he doesn’t know if he ever has a starting point at all other than his birth. Hence, he is but a pure stranger in this domain, for both his birth and death, are beyond his control! But he must move on nevertheless, for as long as he’s alive. There’s no turning back—there’s no hitting ball back at square one. Life journey is just a one-way ticket to the unknown. We may keep it glowing or waste it like spilled milk on the floor of destiny.
God is keeping watch on every person’s life journey. “There is a way which seems right to a man,” He taught, “But its end is the way of death.” (Prov 14:12) In substance, He said we have the freedom to choose our path. “There is a way” or “it’s all up to you,” He said. Life journey is a moral choice, and therefore, an honest personal responsibility.

The Perfect Law that Guides our Life Journey
The journey of Abraham had the city of Ur for a starting point, while Moses’ exodus, Egypt. Both had the same destination, Canaan, the Promised Land. Both starting point and destination are essential elements in the “law of journey.” Two questions may be helpful in fully absorbing this code: 1) Where did I come from?, and 2) Where shall I go from here? Jesus, our Lord, said He is the complete embodiment of the law of journey. In short, He is the Answer. He said He’s the Way, the Truth, and the Life (cf. John 14:6). He is the only right Way for man. He’s the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Perfect Law of Travel. Christ is the Perfect Law who guides our life journey.
There was a man who thought he was a deep thinker. Curious, I asked him one day what he was thinking about to which he replied: “I’m thinking about my origin, where did I come from . . ..” Wise men raised the same question since the dawn of time. And the answer to it is found in the first four words of Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God . . ..” God is Everything. Christ claimed He is the Alpha and Omega. He is the first letter (Alpha) and the last letter (Omega) in the story of life. Therefore, never walk this life alone again. Invite Christ into your soul by believing. “Therefore,” Christ made a promise, “you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.” (John 16:22)
The Starting Point of the Journey of Life
It’s enough for the true Christian believer to satisfy his life’s questions with this phrase: In the beginning God . . ..That’s the starting point in the law of journey! Where did you come from? Well, in “the beginning God . . ..” Did the Bible say, “In the beginning ‘ape’”? No. Even the atheists find satisfaction in reflecting we came from God, not from the monkeys.
The “In the beginning” opening statement of the Holy Bible in the Book of Genesis has its counterpart in John 1:1. It says “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Verse 14 of the same Gospel according to John states that Jesus Christ is the Word who is God and who is also the Resurrection and the Life (cf. John 11).

The Lord Jesus is indeed the fusion of the Law of Journey. He is both the Starting Point and the Destination (John 14:3-6). Wrote the Apostle Paul that in “Christ all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him YOU HAVE BEEN MADE COMPLETE….He is before all things, and in Him ALL THINGS HOLD TOGETHER.” (Col. 2:9-10; 1:17)
Millions of People on a Meaningless Life Journey
Millions of people simply don’t know they came from God, and will soon face Him. They thought it is possible to take the road without Him. In Ecclesiastes we find the writer reiterating the phrase “a chasing after the wind.” Are you a lawyer or a medical doctor or a rocket scientist or a poor boy who’s always hungry? Observes God from heaven: “Well, you don’t want Me in your life journey, but you’re just chasing after the wind. All is meaningless without Me in this life.” Traveling in the middle of nowhere without a starting point and a destination is just like being lost in a vast forest. It is always the case with a countless number of people who don’t want God to be part of their lives: lost in the great forest of chaos, confusion, sin and the pleasures of this world!

Let’s teach our children to believe that Jesus our Lord was the One who created them (cf. John 1:3); who gave to them His Spirit (cf. Rom 8:9); and, who promised to them eternal life in His name (cf. John 3:16). He’s the Totality of the Law of Journey.
For “there is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death,” because the only Way to the Father is Jesus our Lord (cf. John 14:6).
