Gay Marriage Versus the Social Norms
The gay marriage has sparked tumultuous debates in many parliaments in Europe. Already weaved into the legal fabric in many countries, we believe it is not the right direction God wanted us to follow. But the majority of our political leaders and legislators are keen at pleasing the people. They don’t have much interest in what is biblical, anyway. The “gay things” will then become a part of our social norms, not to mention the reinvention of our vocabularies, bio-data forms, the restrooms, etc.
What is a Social Norm and Why Do We Care About It?
“From a sociological perspective,” according to Wikipedia, “social norms are informal understandings that govern the behavior of members of a society. Social psychology recognizes smaller group units, such as a team or an office, may also endorse norms separately or in addition to cultural or societal expectations. In other words, norms are regarded as collective representations of acceptable group conduct as well as individual perceptions of particular group conduct. They can be viewed as cultural products (including values, customs, and traditions) which represent individuals’ basic knowledge of what others do and think that they should do.”
The part of this definition (by some social psychologists!) of social norms (about recognizing smaller group units!) may apply to the LGBT communities like their endorsing or developing standards not held by the general public. The legalization of gay marriage, however, is another story as it is binding the entire nation and not just the world of those having a homosexual orientation.
Our thesis is that gay marriage does not help strengthen the institution of marriage in contrast to the belief of the proponents of same-sex union.
We do care about gay marriage as we don’t believe it is normal, neither do we consider it as advantageous for the advancement of society.
The Legalization of Gay Marriage
One legislator in London said that the legalization of gay marriage would help strengthen the institution of marriage. So curled as it is deceptive an assertion indeed. For same-sex marriage is just a new deviation and was never a part morally and legally of the marital union that we knew of since time began. The marriage institution has been around since Adam, and it was sound and vigorous until sodomy came into the scene. But as God so hated homosexually, so He burned Sodom and Gomorrah (as if He was giving an advanced warning to all against gay marriage!). (cf. Gen. 19)
Just like other deviant behaviors such as prostitution and polygamy from the biblical norms on sex and marriage, gay marriage may have been fashioned out of humanity’s sinful, rebellious, corrupt, and godless nature.
We heard about one female pastor marrying another female worker of the church. It sent shock waves on the real Christians. God has vehemently disallowed the marital union of the same sex. We, born-again Christians, will never support the institutionalization of gay marriage!
From a less secure website (can’t be linked directly: http://bit.ly/2nnGluS) I found one argument that same-sex marriage does not harm the institution of traditional marriage. It says:
I noticed the author of the article focusing on the legal and rational side of the debate and leaving the moral issue of the gay marriage untouched.
The legalization of gay marriage belongs to the Congress of a nation. The concern, speaking of its legal aspect, is the fundamental right of everyone to choose one’s gender preference. I had an online discussion for around two weeks (responding on the website’s debate thread) with a Singaporean gay where I learned about love, sympathy, understanding, and human rights as the dominant punch lines of the LGBTs.
Solely based on humanity’s fundamental right to choose one’s gender option, the legalization of gay marriage in few countries only dismantles humanity’s notion of what is right from wrong. A morally corrupt practice such as gay marriage being sanctioned by law brings only irreparable damage to society’s sensitivity to a sound and stable moral conscience.
The Science Behind Homosexuality Versus the Biblical Viewpoint
I made a research on the science behind homosexuality and found this analysis from Georgia Lawrence:
The thesis that homosexuality is more environment-shaped or psychological than biological (more nurture than nature!) is given serious thought these days. Georgia Lawrence, however, believed that there would be a “genetic influence” somehow since one would choose to be gay even if “met with hostility.”
From the website, Expanding Circles, it says (concerning the biological cause of homosexuality) that,
The gay choice, from a biblical perspective, is not biological in nature. The Holy Bible said that homosexuality is unnatural. Wrote the apostle Paul that,
The so-called gay gender does not have a divine origin. It is invented by humanity as a form of rebellion to prove that God’s Word concerning the creation of the male and female humans is untrue.
The argument that a gay is a woman trapped in a man’s body is pure baloney, for we’ve seen many homosexuals having children, and some serving in the military doing tons of masculine routines.
The Bible teaching concerning the gay phenomenon is that it is the result of the sinfulness of the human heart—changing the truth for a lie!
Observe Rom. 1:18-25:
19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.
24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.
25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.
26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural,
27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
God’s Anger on Homosexuality
God stated that homosexuality is a mistake (as it is a suppression of the truth in unrighteousness!) and will receive the “wrath of God.” (cf. Rom. 1:18). Paul said that “For this reason.” (Rom. 1:26) What is that “reason”? Well, as mentioned, it is the suppression of God’s truth in unrighteousness. (v. 18) God’s truth is that He created male and female; He created Adam and Eve, not Adam and “Steve.” But the devil wanted to disprove God’s Word. Through the spirit of deception, he invented the third sex known as the gay or lesbian. God is so angry at homosexuality that He rained fire on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah (cf. Gen. 19:24) because of it. Today, parliaments are supporting via legislation the gay marriage campaign and installing it into the regular stream of society as if it has a moral advantage. It is indeed an utter insult to the living God and His blessed Word!
Some Concerns with the Legalization of Gay Marriage
The legalization of gay marriage is sure to give birth to more improper practices unacceptable in a healthy society. One primary side effect with such measure, for example, is the coming generation’s way of looking at the gay life as a PLAN B option in pursuing the future.
I had the opportunity of asking one barber, who was a homosexual, about his plans for the future. He told me he was planning to live the life of a real man, to get married, and raise a family. Many people from the LGBT communities are unsure of persisting in their abnormal gender preference. The legalization of gay marriage, therefore, is tantamount to sealing off the wrong and abnormal gender option. It is the one thing quite disturbing since the political backing of the gay right may just encourage those depressed, confused, or simply demonized, to follow this wrong path that is hated by the God of the Holy Bible.
Another issue we want to raise concerning the legalization of gay marriage is the moral standards to be inculcated by gay parents into their adopted children. Like the so-called atheists, a new set of good “moral behavior” has to be crafted to supply the need of raising upright citizens out of an abnormal marital union (or principle). Rewriting the code of morality enshrined in the Bible is an utter impossibility.
Said one study (see this link: http://bit.ly/2nnGluS – accessed 3-14-2017) that “An estimated 16,000 same-sex couple, are raising more than 22,000 adopted children in the U.S., and these findings indicate that these children will likely fare no differently, as a result of their family type, than those being raised by heterosexual parents.”
I don’t believe this research involves faith in God and the Holy Bible as members of the Christian society. The Bible is plain: God hated homosexuality so much that He made an effort (commissioned the angels) to save Lot, Abraham’s nephew, and then burned Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring places! He destroyed these gay-dominated cities, including all the people in them, the animals, the insects and other living things. It is the Word of God. No parliament has the power to alter it.
Still another issue related to the legalization of gay marriage is the spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Gay Marriage Versus the Wrath of God
Gay marriage is just like a new paradigm of flagrant insults to God. It is an absolute indignity also to our so-called high level of civilization and superior intelligence. Can you imagine the wisdom of former President Obama and other world leaders who are determined to legalize gay marriage?
Most leaders spearheading the campaign for the legalization of gay marriage are homosexuals themselves. (Is Barrack Obama gay?)
We are not saying that ALL gay people are hornier than the rest of the population. We don’t need to prove it. God said that no one is without sin in this world. (Rom. 3:13) We are all very SINFUL before the eyes of God. That is why we need the Gospel that Christ Jesus is God the Son, Lord, Savior, Redeemer, and Forgiver of sin. One homosexual-turned-Christian shared on YouTube his salvation from the gay slavery. He experienced homosexual tendencies during a young age where he was yet ignorant about sex. He reasoned he didn’t know science or about any “gay gene” on his built. He rather thought that it was Psalm 51:5 that says that he “was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” He was born gay, he argued, for he was imperfect and sinful from his mother’s womb.
You may call it as biological homosexuality. We maintained, however, that the gay experience is psychological and even demonic in a way. Not founded on the genetic composition of the body, homosexuality responds positively to the prayers of the Christian loved ones most of the time. Testimonies about an ex-gay converted to born-again Christianity also claim a good number of the total YouTube uploads on the religion category.
The gay has lots of contribution in the arts, in politics, and other disciplines. Winston Churchill was rumored to be gay. But the legalization of gay marriage is the greatest tragedy that we’ve seen in this world. Why? Because it is equivalent to making right what is wrong; making black what is white; making righteous was is wicked; making proper what is improper; making moral what is immoral! Now, who told me what is right and what is not? Well, the Holy Bible, the Word of Christ!
The Homosexuals Cannot Inherit God’s Kingdom
The outright rebellion of most lawmakers against God’s Word, the Holy Bible, strengthens somehow the drive for the legalization of gay marriage. In apostle Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth, he presented the sin of the same-sex aberration as having the degree of divine wrath along with the level of fornication, adultery, thievery, etc. Do not be deceived, he said. It is our conviction that homosexuality is unnatural since the Bible declares that it is. (cf. Rom. 1:26-27) As such, it is not biological but psychological and environmental. Secondly, it is a sin punishable by a second death in the torments of hell.
Observe the following teaching as penned by the apostle Paul and the other one found in Leviticus:
If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them. (Lev. 20:13)
Conclusion: How to Get Out of the Darkness and Sin of Homosexuality?
In 1 Corinthians 6:11, the apostle Paul wrote: “Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” “Such were some of you” means some of you were thieves, others homosexuals if we try to examine the verse from its context. But these “sinners” were washed, justified and sanctified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of God.
